Responsible Gambling — Kenya
Last updated: May 2026
Gambling should be an enjoyable, controlled form of entertainment. The vast majority of people who bet on sports or play casino games do so safely and responsibly. However, for a minority of players, gambling can become problematic. This page provides tools, information and resources to help you stay in control.
Signs of Problem Gambling
Problem gambling is described as gambling behaviour that disrupts personal, family or work life. Warning signs include:
- Spending more money on gambling than you can afford to lose.
- Chasing losses by placing larger and larger bets.
- Lying to friends or family about how much you are gambling.
- Neglecting work, school or family responsibilities to gamble.
- Borrowing money or selling possessions to fund gambling.
- Feeling anxious, irritable or depressed when not gambling.
- Unsuccessfully trying to cut down or stop gambling.
If you recognise three or more of these signs in yourself or someone close to you, we strongly encourage you to seek support from the resources listed below.

Gambling Is Not a Way to Make Money
All casino games have a built-in house edge and all sportsbooks operate with an overround on odds. This means that, on average, you will lose money over the long term if you gamble regularly. Sports betting and casino gaming should be treated as entertainment, not as a revenue source or investment strategy. Never bet more than you can comfortably afford to lose, and never bet with borrowed money.
